Golf lessons Chester

Why should you take golf lessons in Chester?

I often overhear people on the driving range in Chester, or people asking me directly, whether golf lessons are actually worth it, or whether they are necessary. Are they value for money? How many golf lessons should I have? When should I book a golf lesson?

In this blog, I will highlight the benefits of having golf lessons in Chester and I’ll also discuss why you might not want to have a golf lesson, so that you can make up your own mind.

The benefits of having golf lessons

1. Advice from a PGA Professional Coach

If you enjoy playing golf and want to improve any element of your game, it’s always worth considering booking a lesson with a PGA Professional Coach.

As a Professional Coach, it is my role to analyse your game; to look at your posture, check your set up and analyse your golf swing. With over 20 years’ experience as a trained Golf Coach, it is my job to understand the cause and effects of your faults and the best way to make minor adjustments, which will improve your game. Hearing a piece of information from a playing partner or from’ YouTube’ can be informative, but may be detrimental to your game if misunderstood.

2. An opportunity to play golf regularly

For many of my clients, booking a golf lesson gives them a reason to play more golf. If they know that they are meeting me, their PGA Professional the following week, it can be motivational to practice what was discussed and worked on in the previous golf lesson, as they will want to improve and see progression.

It is a great opportunity to play regularly, which leads me on nicely to my next point…

3. Seeing improvement in performance

Golf can be a frustrating game, as every player will tell you. However, having golf lessons and seeing progress is a fantastic achievement. Regular lessons with my students allow me to reinforce the elements required to improve their game, and they find that in time, they start doing these things naturally. Realistically progress does not just happen overnight, therefore perseverance and patience are key.

“A prime example to show the benefits of having a golf lesson is Stuart who I’ve been coaching for almost a year at foregolf Chester. He only ever had lessons ad hoc previously, when his game was going downhill, but decided to commit to a more long-term plan with me. He started with a 14 handicap and booked in for regular one-to-one lessons. We’ve been working hard on improving his swing and making positive changes to his game. He’s now at a career low of 8 and in November, shot his lowest ever score of 75 at Chester golf club.

Reasons you may not want to have golf lessons

1. You are too busy

If you want to improve – make time! If you’re thinking of booking regular golf lessons, but can only practice during that lesson, chances are you won’t have the opportunity to play in between. This means you won’t get chance to practice and you might not be improving, therefore it is important to invest as much time as possible to ensure that you receive the best outcome of your lesson.

2. You enjoy playing golf socially

For some people, golf is a great social game, therefore it doesn’t need to be anything more. If you are happy with your game at the moment and do not want to improve, then you don’t want a golf lesson.

Golf lessons Chester FAQs…

How frequently should I have a golf lesson?

Most of my customers in Chester, Cheshire either have one or two lessons every month, but I do have a number of regular weekly customers who often book 4 or 6 lessons in a block, and then take a break before coming back to me a few months later. Both works well, it just depends on the golfer and their priorities!

How many lessons do I need to improve?

This depends on the golfer and I suggest booking one lesson with a PGA Professional Coach initially. It is really important that you work well with your PGA Golf Coach – so there’s no point booking six lessons and finding out after lesson one that you actually don’t get on! Give your PGA professional a call or email, arrange a lesson and book more if you’re impressed!
